LIU Junhai has been a professor of law and the Director for Business Law Center, Renmin University of China since 2006. He received SJD from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1995. He received LLM from China University of Political Science & Law in 1992. He passed National Bar Examination in 1990. He received LLB from Hebei University in 1989.
His representative publications are Protection of Shareholders’ Rights(Press of Law, 1995, 1997, 2004), Corporate Social Responsibility(Press of Law, 1999), Modern Corporate Law (Press of Law, 2008, 2011, 2015) and Modern Securities Law (Press of Law,2011).
In addition to advising NPC on the reform of Corporate Law and Securities Law, he has advised the Supreme Court on numerous judicial interpretations and controversial cases on business law. He is the National Financial Law Expert and Team Leader of the TA project “Improving the Legal Framework for Securities and Futures Markets”(2014-2016) retained by ADB in collaboration with Legislative Affairs Committee of NPC.
He was adjunct senior research fellow at China Securities Regulatory Commission (2013-2015). He was the Vice Chairman of China Consumers’ Association (2008-2015). He was professor at Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) from 1995 to 2006. He was a visiting scholar at Michigan, Wisconsin, Kansas, Amsterdam and Oslo.
He is the co-winner of the Ralph Bunche Award for the Best International Paper of “Trust E-commerce in China” co-authored with Prof.Timothy Fort at the 2001 National Meeting of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB) of U.S.. He was awarded the Distinguished Young Jurist by Beijing Law Society in 1999. He was recognized as one of Top Ten National Opinion Leaders in China by Financial Weekly in 2003. He was recognized as one of Top Ten Distinguished Young Jurists by China Law Society in 2006.
He is a Panelist at CIETAC,BAC,WIPO,ICDR/AAA,KLRCA,APRAG,VIAC,HKIAC. He is an adviser for several government agencies including State Authority of Industry & Commerce, Ministry of Commerce, China Food & Drug Administration, General Administration of Quality Supervision,Inspection & Quarantine,etc. He is also a member of Advisory Committee of Court Informatization for Chinese Supreme Court.
